David Clarkson and Matt Moulson could both be a little sluggish in matinee games on President’s Day. However, Clarkson is the play since he will be facing Ben Bishop, and not Craig Anderson, in Monday’s day home game.

Eric Staal is a slam-dunk pick over Jaime McGinn, as Staal carries an 11-game point streak into play. It’s hard to bet against that, unless the other option was the caliber of Sidney Crosby or something like that. McGinn is not that option.

– Like we mentioned above, the Devils will be facing a backup goaltender, so Ilya Kovalchuk should be in line for at least a goal and a solid plus/minus rating. Bobby Ryan has a favorable matchup against the Blue Jackets, but he won’t outscore Kovie.

– Sounding like a broken record here, but Patrik Elias has a favorable matchup, while Tomas Plekanec will be trying to solve one of the Eastern Conference’s best netminders in Cam Ward.

– The difference here is Dennis Wideman will be well rested with a night puck drop, while Luke Schenn faces a road game in a matinee. While Schenn is a hit machine, and he could be active, the choice is clear here – Wideman.
