Daily Fantasy NBA Vegas Outlook: Harden & Dirk Cream of Texas Crop

daily-fantasy-nba-vegas-outlook-march-6-13The daily fantasy NBA Vegas outlook had a solid showing in the Beast category last night with Durant and Kobe, but both value plays stunk up the joint (3/5/13). Though he didn’t put forth the highest fantasy output on his team, Kevin Durant still produced 5x his salary even though he was the most expensive player to own at Fanthrowdown. Kobe went for 33 fantasy points in the losing effort, but I’ve already turned the page on the efforts put forth by both Kevin Martin and Jodie Meeks and so should you! For Wednesday night, we’re digging into the regular season finale between the Rockets and Mavericks.

Dallas Mavericks (-2) Total: 221

FTD NBA-1Trends: The ‘over’ is 7-1 in the Rockets L/7 Western Conference skirmishes, and stands 5-1 the L/6 times they returned to the hardwood off 48 hours rest. Dallas has played to high scorers in seven of its L/10 home games, and it’s 4-1 the L/5 times the squad surrendered 125+ points in their previous game.

Refs: The crew assigned to this game has produced an average of 196.5 PPG to date, with the ‘over’ 13-6 in games with a point ‘total’ of 205+ points. Dallas has scored an average of 106 PPG in the three games reffed by Ed Malloy this season, while the Rockets have tallied an average of 103.8 points in the five he called of theirs. Two of the three Houston games Kevin Scott called this season went ‘over’ with an average of 214 PPG.

Houston Fantasy Focus:

No-Brainer Beast Add

SG James Harden ($9400) The Beard has averaged better than 40 fantasy points versus the Mavericks this season, and enters off a 36 point outburst against Dallas on Sunday. The Mavs have conceded a 21.4 Eff to opposing SGs overall, and a 23.6 Eff to the position over their L/10 games. If Houston is to even up the season series with their hated in-state rivals, Harden must go off!
skirmishes.

Value Play

C Omer Asik ($6700) The Turkish Hammer tallied 30 fantasy points versus the Mavericks limited bigs on Sunday, and has averaged a near double-double against them this season. Dallas has conceded a 25.1 Eff to opposing centers this season, but that stat has ballooned to a 29.3 Eff over their L/10 games. Look for Omer to at the very least perform 3x his salary tonight!

Dallas Fantasy Focus:

No-Brainer Beast Add

PF Dirk Nowitzki ($7700) Dirk was in a solid scoring groove heading into last Sunday’s tilt in Houston having registered 20 or more points in four of Dallas’ L/5 games. That streak came to a screeching halt last time out after he mustered just eight total points in route to tallying a wretched 17 fantasy point tally. Superstars normally bounce back after stinkers, and I expect that to occur once again this evening. Look for him to emulate the 29 fantasy point effort he put forth in the Mavs 105-100 home win and cover against the Rockets back on January 16th.

Value Play

SF Shawn Marion ($6800) The value play for the Mavs was pretty tough. If you want to go with a guard, I’d go Mayo due to Collison going MIA since the All Star break. In choosing between Marion and Vince Carter, I chose to go with the former since he’s averaged 26.8 FPPG vs. Houston this season compared to VC’s 13 FP average. With the Rockets conceding a healthy 23.4 Eff to opposing SFs on the road this season, expect one of these two to have a solid outing; hopefully it’s Marion!
