Daily Fantasy NBA Vegas Outlook: Mile High City Eruption

daily-fantasy-nba-vegas-outlook-february-6-13The daily fantasy NBA Vegas outlook knocked it out of the park in last night’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls: (2/28/13). Even though the game came up just short of going ‘over’ the closing number, the game produced some gargantuan point totals over at DraftDay. Look no further than Joakim Noah who tallied his third ever triple-double en route to putting up 70+ fantasy points, and Kirk Hinrich produced 5x his salary as the Bulls value play. On the Philly side of things, Jrue Holiday tallied 32 fantasy points (4x) while Evan Turner almost produced 4x his salary as the Sixers value play. Now let’s take a look at how the Thunder and Nuggets stack up in the second leg of ESPN’s Friday night doubleheader.

Oklahoma City Thunder (-1.5) Total: 220

Trends: The Thunder has played to the ‘over’ in five of their L/6 road games against +.600 home teams, and they’re 5-1 to the ‘over’ in the six games they’ve partaken in with a total of 210 points or greater. The Nuggets have played to high scorers in 10 of their L/11 home games, and they’re 11-1 to the ‘over’ the L/12 times they returned to the hardwood off a full day of rest; their 33 games played under that scenario have averaged 207.1 PPG while the Thunder’s 38 games averaged 205.1 PPG.

Refs: Six of the seven Denver games head ref Eric Lewis has called this season have combined for an average of 209.5 PPG; the ‘over’ cashed in in five of those contests. The ‘over’ has also cashed in both OKC games he called this season. Though each of the two OKC games ref Gary Zielinski has called this season went ‘under’, the previous four all went ‘over’ the closing number with an average combined score of 213.3 PPG.

Oklahoma City Fantasy Focus:

No-Brainer Beast Add

PG Russell Westbrook ($15,300) Denver’s been wretched versus opposing PGs allowing a 26.9 Eff over its L/10 games. The Thunder’s court general has averaged 42+ fantasy points in his squad’s two run ins with Denver to date, and in a game with a posted ‘total’ as high as this, Russell will no doubt once again shoulder a major scoring load.

*** Value Play ***

SG/SF Thabo Sefolosha ($6,650) The last time Thabo partook in a run and gun type of game was against the Houston Rockets back on February 20th, and he ended up going for a value packed 37 points of fantasy goodness in that contest. He’s only averaged 14+ FPs versus the Nuggs this season, but tonight could possibly be a blowup game.

Denver Fantasy Focus:

No-Brainer Beast Add

SF Danilo Gallinari ($10,200) The Nuggs sharpshooter will enter this one well rested after missing the L/2 games due to a thigh bruise. OKC is giving up a 20.3 Eff to opposing SFs on the road this season, and Gallinari is one of only two Denver starters averaging 20+ FPs vs. the Thunder this season.

*** Value Play ***

SG/SF Corey Brewer ($7,400) The Thunder’s been susceptible to allowing big fantasy outputs over their L/10 games to opposing SFs (22.5 Eff), so I have no problems taking a shot with Brewer who will compete for minutes with Wilson Chandler knowing he already went for 36 FPs in the Nuggets 121-118 home win over OKC earlier this season.
