Draft Day Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy: May 3rd

Another abbreviated schedule is set to go on Thursday’s get-away day slate, but don’t let that get you down when you log into your DraftDay.com account! There are plenty of solid options on the limited card, and here’s a look at some we’ll be adding to our arsenal.

If you think you can assemble a better 5-Man roster for Thursday’s card, click on the banner below and put your $$$ where your mouth is. Actually, it won’t cost anything, and if you do tally more points in the challenge, you’ll win $5 that can be used towards any league or contest you choose to enter down the road!

Martin Prado 3B/OF Atlanta Braves ($8,055) – The Braves might have come up with the win that proclaimed the Phillies dominance over them has concluded last night. In winning the 15-13 back and forth affair, Atlanta snapped its eight-game losing streak in its recent series with Philly. Prado – the little engine that could – was one of the main reasons why going 3-for-6 with 3 RBI and a run scored. He’s only hit 44 HRs in his career, but three of them have come against Blanton whom he’s a lifetime .350 hitter against with four RBIs. We expect another solid daily fantasy MLB tally here with the Braves looking to take the series.

Pedro Alvarez 3B Pittsburgh Pirates ($7,895) – Since getting swept at LA in their opening road series of 2012, the Buccos have tallied at least one win as a visitor in each of their L/3 set as visitors. After getting humiliated in the first two games against the Redbirds, Manager Clint Hurdle’s squad should be out for blood in the finale. Pedro Alvarez enters this afternoon’s game red hot having hit safely in seven of his L/8 games played and raked 2+ hits in five of them. He just might be in the midst of his breakout season which means his daily fantasy salary will only continue to rise; back him while he still carries some value!

Kendrys Morales 1B/DH Los Angeles Angels ($8,275) – A bit of a hangover might be expected here after Jered Weaver tossed a no-no last night, but with the way the Halos have struggled to start the season, we expect nothing less than a determined effort in the series opener with the Jays. LA erupted for a season-high nine runs last night, and most of that was due to Morales’ bat which hit safely three times with a HR and 2 RBI. Morrow’s had problems with some of the Halos bats in his career, which includes Kendry who’s batting .429 against him lifetime with three RBI and a bomb.

**Value Hurler Of The Night**

Ross Detwiler SP Washington Nationals ($10,865) – So let me get this straight. Ian Kennedy – whose looked rather unspectacular even though he’s 3-0 – is nearly five grand more to draft to your daily fantasy baseball roster today than Detwiler even though oddsmakers opened this game at a pick ‘em?! We’re not buying it, and neither should you! Detwiler’s still being offered up at a lesser price right now only because he’s an unknown commodity, but don’t be fooled, the kid has the goods and possesses the much better bullpen backing him up if indeed he departs with the lead. Lightning struck once when the Snakes got the best of the Nats other fireballer (Zimmerman); it ain’t striking twice!
