Ten games are set to go on Monday, April 16th’s daily fantasy baseball slate starting off with the Rays and Red Sox Patriot’s Day matinee. A number of team aces are set to take to the bump today (Strasburg, Weaver, Lincecum), so it would be wise to find the most bang for your buck at other positions so as to be able to comfortably install them into your line-up. Make it a point to add some of these value plays to your roster when you head over to FanDuel.com to draft your team!
Josh Thole C New York Mets ($2700) – Joe Mauer will be an exceptionally popular selection at the catcher position on Monday night with him digging into the box to take his hacks against Freddy Garcia whom he’s 13-for-31 against (.419) with two HR & five RBI. However, he’s going to cost you a hefty $4100 to install into your daily fantasy line-up. Thole – who sat out Sunday’s game – has ripped the cover off the ball against Hanson going 8-for-18 (.444) with two doubles, one HR and three RBI in his career. New York already saw Hanson once this year (Thole went 2-for-3), so hopefully it can get a few ducks on the pond for him to really do some damage this time around .
Austin Jackson OF Detroit Tigers ($3600) – The Tigers’ bats cooled off in Chicago over the weekend scoring a total of just eight runs after scoring an average of 6.7 RPG in their six previous games against Tampa Bay and Boston. Still, Jackson scratched out four hits and walked twice and enters Monday night’s series opener in Kansas City averaging 4.6 points per game at FanDuel setting the table for Detroit’s big boppers. The Tigers should rediscover their offensive stroke versus a Royals pitching staff that just finished surrendering a grand total of 32 runs against the Tribe over the weekend.
J.J Hardy SS Baltimore Orioles ($3700) – The O’s shortstop got the day off to rest in the finale of Baltimore’s series with the division rival Blue Jays. The Orioles invade the Windy City the surprise leaders of the AL East. Hardy hasn’t gotten off to the greatest of daily fantasy baseball starts averaging just 2.2 FanDuel points per game, but he’s a perfect 4-for-4 in his career against Phillip Humber with a HR and an RBI. With both Markakis and Jones also having success in their careers vs. the Palehose hurler, the recipe is there for Hardy to bust out with his best fantasy night of the young season.
**Value Hurler of the Night**
Jake Arietta P Baltimore Orioles ($5600) – Game 1 of the O’s/White Sox series is a match-up of teams that have both gotten out to solid starts. However, we’re getting exceptional value with Arietta who will be making his third start of the season against Humber who’s watched his teammates partake in eight games before finally being able to make a contribution. On top of that, we’re getting a bargain basement discount price on what looks to be the O’s staff ace. You have to spend 12.3 percent more of your bankroll to draft either Verlander (13.1 FDP) or Halladay (16.0 FDP), yet Arietta checks in averaging 11.6 FanDuel daily fantasy baseball points himself. In Jake we trust!
