A fresh slate of daily fantasy baseball action is set to go on the final day of April with the D’Backs and Marlins kicking things off in the afternoon before the Twins and Angels close things out in Anaheim. A number of solid hurlers are set to take to the bump, but that won’t prevent us from breaking down the match-ups to find the best value plays to add to our rosters over at FantasyFeud.com!
Alex Rodriguez 3B New York Yankees ($77,154) – Jason Hammel has gotten out to a fantastic start to his 2012 campaign. However, many pitchers experience that same type of early success when switching leagues. Two of his three wins came against the weak hitting White Sox and Twins. NY is a completely different animal, ranking Top 5 in RPG, BA & OPS, and though he hasn’t seen the Yanks offense since his TBY days, A-Rod has owned him going 6-for-15 with four HRs and nine RBI. He’s nearly 20 percent cheaper to draft than Beltre who’s yet to tally a hit versus Drabek in three tries – go with history and value at the “Hot Corner” tonight!
Torii Hunter OF Los Angeles Angels ($61,129) – With the Angels getting out to such a nightmarish start, the roster’s daily fantasy baseball salaries are alarmingly low across the board. However, we love nothing more than to buy into what everyone else is throwing away; especially when that trash is something we know will turn to treasure sooner or later. Hunter has actually been one of the few hitters to hold his weight thus far hitting .284 with two HR and nine RBI. He’s a lifetime .438 hitter and possesses a .438 OBP versus Blackburn who’s done nothing but throw batting practice in three career starts at the “Big A” (7.20 ERA & .375 BAA in 3 starts). The feeling here is that this homecoming will be the spark that gets LA going, and we plan on being a part of it in every game!
Carlos Ruiz C Philadelphia Phillies ($55,950) – There isn’t much to get excited about from a daily fantasy point of view at the catcher position for Monday night. Bottom line – there’s no better option on the board than Ruiz who sat out Sunday’s loss and has already raked three hits (1 HR) to go along with three RBI against Cubs pitching in this series. The Phillies are very familiar with Volstad from his Marlins days (.297 BAA), and Ruiz has been one of the biggest thorns in his side. He owns .450/.560/.650 splits against him lifetime and should play a major role if the Philly is to avoid the series loss.
**Value Hurler of the Night**
Kyle Drabek SP Toronto Blue Jays ($59,349) – With Darvish dominating the Yankees his last time out, many will be quick to back the Rangers as hefty road favorites in Monday night’s series opener North of the border. On top of that, they’re probably not even going to think twice about installing him onto their daily fantasy MLB roster even though he’s $10,000 more to draft than “King Felix”. You can count us out in a big way! Toronto has got some potent sticks, and Drabek’s tossed some solid ball limiting both Baltimore and Boston to a combined two ERs in his two home starts to date. On top of that, the BJ’s mashed for him in those two games serving up an average of eight runs per game at Rogers Centre. Remember folks, it’s all about value, and Drabek’s brimming with it tonight!
