– With Sidney Crosby or Steven Stamkos, you really cannot lose. However, Sid the Kid is the better play here, simply because Stamkos is going up against the slightly better defensive team and the club with a better backstop.

– It would be foolish to pick against Thomas Vanek at this point. While he has to slow down, I mean, he just has to, doesnt’ he? He isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, so until such point he should be the pick against anyone.

Henrik Zetterberg has at least one point in seven of his past eight games, and he redeemed himself for a scoreless night in the opener in St. Louis with a hat trick, two assists and a plus-3 rating on eight shots on goal in the latest meeting Feb. 1 at Joe Louis Arena. Those five points matches Alex Ovechkin’s entire production through 10 games.

Eric Staal is the play here, as he has scored a goal in four straight games, including the last meeting with the Senators Feb. 1. Jarome Iginla scored his first goal of the season last time out, but he actually had just one point in four games against the Jackets last season.

Kris Letang streaks into this game with at least one point in four straight, including a goal and power-play assist in the last meeting with the Capitals Sunday afternoon. Alexander Edler has not been as proficient, and he faces a more difficult matchup.
